Silvia Night

There are few phenomena that capture the Icelandic nation more then the freak show that is Eurovision. For those of you who don't know about this, Eurovision Song contest is a song contest staged every year by the European Broadcasting Union, which means that the main TV station in each country in Europe (and Israel and few other outsiders) either nominates or hosts a qualifying competition in order to find the artist and the song to ship to the main competition.

Last year Greece won, so this year the competition is in Athens. Last year Iceland decided to send a very safe but moderately boring bet to the competition, the song was ok, the music was fine and the performance was perfect but no luck. This year however the entire nation has been captured by what can best be described as Silvia frenzy.

I suggest that you take a minute to read up on this International Superstar on her homepage. Silvia Night- International Superstar. What a wonderful sense of humor we have I am very happy that she will represent us in Athens, she will have to go through a semi final first in order to make it to the final but our hearts goes with her to Athens, as does our pride so God save us all.
