Today is Icelands national day

17th of June 1944 was when we created a republic after having been under Danish rule.

Loved your photos. Also, loved my visit to Iceland last March ('05) with my wife and 12 yr old son. We had a great time in Reykjavik, swimming every day! Also traveled South to the gyser and falls and traveled a little North. A lovely country, although I'm not certain that I could survive a Winter there.
