Like all good cities Reykjavik needs a facelift now and again...
Old buildings saying goodbye and new ones rising from its ashes. Truckload of rubble being driven out just to bring in truck loads of the newest materials and styles. The recent economic success of Icelandic companies and Iceland’s growing interest as a holiday destination has only acted as a catalyst.
First it is out with the old and then in with the new, the beginning and the end belonging to the construction worker but that timeless interval in between certainly belongs to the crane. 60% of the world’s construction cranes are in China but the small percent that tower over Reykjavik create a philharmonic of their own, moving slowly but surely, performing the second symphony of progress.
