My favorite sculpture out of all of Reykjavik’s sculptures old and new is the Sun Voyager, located on the shorefront overlooking Akrafjall and Esjan two of the best visible mountains in Reykjavik, this sculpture has character showing all its bests sides regardless if it is sunny or bleak as when these pictures were taken.

In a suburb called Grafarvogur is a beautiful peninsula overlooking Reykjavik’s "skyline" across a bay on one side, and Esjan - The Mountain of Reykjavik on the other. This peninsula is home to many diverse objects, the city dumps, a fertilizer factory, a Frisbee golf course, a climbing wall, a half pipe and some pretty spectacular stainless steel sculptures. These sculptures are simply just there for everyone to enjoy. These strange geometrical shapes make for great photo ops. More later of these stainless steel monsters.

"If you don't like the weather in Iceland, wait 5 minutes"

Constant changes, the following two pictures show these extremes very well, the first is a picture taken in the north of Iceland half an hour before midnight in late July, the bottom is taken in Reykjavik in March. If you are planning to come to Iceland bring clothes for everything, but save the bathing clothes for the blue lagoon, the ocean might look pretty but up here it contains an ice cube called the north pole ...
Making it a short but refreshing experience.
