Scientists have found a formula for the relationship between health benefits and price of food in Reykjavik
H = P * Kr
Where H is health, P is price and Kr is the exchange rate to Icelandic Krónur. This means that the healthier something is the more expensive it is. Down town is full of fast food places to satisfy every taste. A few places have reached cult status. Bæjarins Bestu (Best in town hot dog stand, even Bill Clinton has been here), Borgara búlla Tómassar (Tomas' Burger joint, funky buildings funky meat), Hlölla Bátar (MacDonald’s meets Subway, fry it slap it on and add magic sauce, read mayo)
Other places to cloak your arteries include but are not limited to: Subway, Kebab húsið (Kebab, Falafel, Fish and chips), Pronto Pizza (pizza by the slice) no relation to the
Lebanese counterpart, Nonna biti. Most of this food is consumed at 3 am by people too drunk to care. Good stuff though.
Don't expect the grand selection though if you are vegetarian, close to the only thing in Iceland suitable for vegetarians is the Tuna sub from subway, the falafel and beer. This is certainly true if you go for fast food, for proper restaurant you should be ok as long as it doesn't mention steak in the name of the place. There is also a few vegetarian / fish restaurants around, more on that later.
