Learn Icelandic

Don't worry; we still plan to write in English!! But for those interested I recommend this great site. It is a free language course created by researchers at the University of Iceland. Beautiful thing it is too. I have to admit however that I haven't taken the course for obvious reasons but if anyone have any comments about it do post them. Does require Quicktime and Flash plug-ins.

Growing interest in Icelandic instruction

Over 2000 students are registered for Icelandic as a second language at various universities throughout the world. Increased international cooperation, the growing importance of Icelandic companies in global markets as well as the increasing popularity of Iceland as a tourist destination have all resulted in greater demand for Icelandic instruction. This demand can be met in various ways, including through the offering of interesting language learning options online.

This goal of this project is to create a tool for promoting Icelandic and the Icelandic language program at the University of Iceland and utilize the expertise and experience of teachers and researchers in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Iceland.
